Annual General Meeting
The Club's Annual General Meeting will be followed by a talk given by Geoff Marsh a recommended RHS speaker. His topic being: Garden Wildlife - Friends and Foes! Geoff has been a wildlife photographer and amateur naturalist for the past thirty years. He will be telling us of the good and bad in garden wildlife.

Bees and Beekeeping
Terry Payne from the Blandford & Sturminster Newton BeeKeepers Association – bsbka.co.uk, will be giving an illustrated and interactive talk on Bees and Beekeeping. Terry will explain how to get started as a beginner and his talk will be augmented with the tools and equipment used in this fascinating subject, with an opportunity for you to handle and see in close-up things that are rarely seen unless you are already a Beekeeper.

Topiary and Cloud Pruning
Re-scheduled from January
This meeting originally arranged for January, had to be posponed due to the bad weather conditions. We are pleased to announce that we have been able to re-book Jake for this month. An expert on this subject, Jake Hobson, will introduce us to all aspects of topiary and pruning. He is the author of 'Niwaki' an informative book on shaping, pruning and training trees in a Japanese style. He is able to supply tools to achieve the desired effect and will have leaflets available regarding his business.

Visit to Castle Gardens - Sherborne
We hope you will find the Spring visit to Sherborne a welcome change from that in Autumn. With their amazing range of plantlets, shrubs, bulbs and trees, let alone pots and tubs, there is bound to be something to enthuse all. Mike Burks will hopefully be on hand to add extra persuasion on the purchasing side! You may arrive at the garden centre any time after 6.00pm for a look round before congregating at 6.45pm ready for the talk at 7.00pm.

Shady Ladies & Damp Damsels
Sally Gregson, Author and Nursey Owner of Mill Cottage Plants in Somerset, will be giving a talk illustrated with Plants and Slides covering the tricky area of what to plant in those difficult spots in your garden. From dry shade under trees, to heavy damp areas. She will be bringing with her, some plants which will be available to buy at the end of the evening.

Resuscitation & Incandecence
Matt Simpson of Simpsons Seeds will be joining us to give an illustrated talk in two parts. In the first part, Matt will talk about bringing the Walled Garden in Horningsham, Wiltshire, back to life as a working Kitchen Garden. Then in the second part, his passion for peppers will be addressed, no doubt with Matt's inimitable style and enthusiasm. Matt hopes to be able to bring along some specimen plants as well as some pods for members to take home.

Michael Jordan is to give us an illustrated talk on the world of fungi. Why they exist, what they are and their astonishing range of colours, shapes and textures. The underlying message is their importance in the web of life as climate change takes hold and that conservation of our native fungi is vital. Many old wives' myths surrounding the dangers of fungi may be blown apart.
